Description
The Breitling Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute combines the brand’s signature modern-retro styling with the rich heritage of its iconic 1960s Twin Jet Navitimer.
Originally introduced in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the Navitimer featured an innovative circular slide rule bezel and chronograph function, allowing pilots to perform essential flight calculations and measure elapsed time.
In 1962, Breitling adapted the design for space exploration at the request of NASA astronaut Scott Carpenter. On 24 May that year, Carpenter wore the Cosmonaute into orbit, making it the first Swiss wristwatch to travel into space.
This contemporary interpretation features a 41mm stainless-steel case and is powered by the manually wound Breitling Manufacture Calibre B02, a distinctive 24-hour chronograph movement exclusive to the Cosmonaute collection.
Completing the design is the historic Twin Jet logo, prominently displayed on the dial. First introduced on the Navitimer in 1965, this emblem distinguished civilian models from those featuring the AOPA insignia, which were originally supplied to association members.
