Watch Services & Repair Workshop

We recommend that your watch is serviced up to 5 years for quartz watches and 2 years for mechanical and professional divers watches where waterproof seals require replacing. Chisholm Hunter offers an extensive Watch Repair Service for all watch brands so whether you require a new battery, change of strap or a full watch service our team of experts are here to ensure you receive the highest standard of service for your treasured timepiece.

Glass Fitting

Experienced in the fitting of all types of watch glasses, our stores hold a wide variety of sizes and materials, whether mineral, shaped mineral, sapphire crystal or Perspex. Get in touch to see how we can help you. 

Case & Bracelet Refurbishments

We provide an excellent watch case and bracelet refurbishment service. We have very sophisticated polishing and lapping equipment. Our watch technicians use their knowledge and skills to refurbish casings and bracelets to a high standard.

Bracelet Link Adjustments

It’s important that your watch fits your wrist comfortably and looks great at the same time. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit. This is generally a very simple procedure. 

Crown & Stem Replacement

We can source original manufacture crown and stems for most watch brands, including popular names like: Tag Heuer, Raymond Weil, Seiko and many more. Our fully trained watch technicians will be able to inspect your watch for signs of damage and recommend the best course of action to get your watch back to new. 

Replacement Batteries & Reseal

We can replace the batteries and reseal the case to make water resistant on those watches designed for this. The reseal kits are replaced, and the watch is placed in a dry pressure testing chamber which is programmed to seal the watch at the level required. 

Movement Exchanges

The complete calibre of your watch is exchanged with a new one. Your watch case and metal bracelet will also be cleaned thoroughly using and ultrasonic machine. New battery and reseal is then done to complete this process. 

Full Watch Servicing Mechanical & Quartz

As part of our movement repair, a service is included as standard at our service centre. The watch is firstly tested to determine where the fault lies and what needs correcting. The movement is then carefully dismantled, and each part is checked under magnification to check for damage or wear. Any parts that are damaged are then repaired or replaced and then the dismantled movement is put through an intensive ultrasonic cleaning process to remove any trace of oil, dirt or any other contaminant. 

Bracelet / Strap Replacement

There’s usually a lot of life left in a watch when the strap and bracelets start to wear, as this section of the product that wraps around your wrist takes the brunt of everyday wear and tear. Rather than purchasing a new timepiece, a simple replacement strap or bracelet can do just the trick! We’ve got a wide range any watch and budget.

Richard Ponton

"I am a Senior Watchmaker with over forty years of experience, obtaining training certificates from the Richemont group (IWC, Cartier, Baume & Mercier) and from The Swatch Group which includes my Omega coaxial certificate. I originally started my BHI course at Barmulloch College in Glasgow followed by 30 years for a watchmakers in Hamilton. I am now enjoying my time with Chisholm Hunter working on luxury brands of mechanical and quartz watches."

"I am a grand complications watchmaker. Having studied Horology at Birmingham University, Richard began my watchmaking career with Time Products in London, working on multi-brands such as Audemars Piguet and Franck Muller. Within two years, I was head-hunted to move to Patek Philippe, where I worked through their qualifications to attain Patek Philippe level 4—the highest awarded in the UK. Building experience at Patek Philippe for the next 12 years, I became a grand complications watchmaker, working on movements and models such as chronographs, annual calendars and minute repeaters."

• While our qualified watch technicians can repair most watch brands some may need to be returned to the manufacturer for repair and servicing. In instances like these we will notify you straight away before sending your watch back to the manufacturer.

• If in the unlikely event your watch requires unanticipated work, Chisholm Hunter will contact you before proceeding with any additional repairs.

• Watch repairs sent back to the manufacturer may take up to 8 weeks to complete the service; Chisholm Hunter will contact you when your watch arrives back in store and hold this safely until you are able to collect.

• All services are accompanied by a 12 month guarantee to give you peace of mind.
