Portugieser Chronograph Mens Watch IW371615

An iconic design, the IWC Portugieser watches originated in the 1930's, when IWC built at the request of two Portuguese merchants a large wrist watch with the precision of a pocket watch. The noticeably large and striking wristwatch was first launched in 1939 and features a railway-rack style chaper ring ("chemin-de-fer"), a popular feature on pocket watches in the 1930's, is reminiscent of railway tracks and is still on the simple dials of Portugieser timepieces to this day. This IWC Portugieser Mens Watch IW371615 features a 41mm stainless steel case, a striking green dial with rhodium-plated hands and appliques and is presented on a black alligator leather strap. Printed with a quarter-second scale, this timepiece not only allows precise reading of the stop time but also reminds us of the Portugieser’s origins as a nautical precision instrument for the wrist. Inside the sporty-elegant chronograph, the IWC-manufactured 69355 calibre is at work; the robust and precise chronograph movement in classic column-wheel design is visible through a sapphire-glass case back.
