We love a Zenith watch here at Chisholm Hunter, and we don't think you'll find a more exquisite watch than the Zenith Defy Classic Mens Watch! Just look at that skeleton dial! Let take a closer look into the world of luxury Swiss watchmaking experts, Zenith.
Founded in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot, Zenith began production in Le Locle Switzerland, which is known as the centre of Swiss Watchmaking, and became the first watch manufacture in the modern sense of the term bringing all the various crafts of watchmaking under one roof. Zenith are known for being innovative and creating distinctive looking timepieces and the Zenith Defy collection is no different. At the time of it's release in 1969, the Defy was considered a trendsetting watch with an unusual case whose design shaped the trends of luxury sports watches in the 1970s, a look that was retained for modern Zenith Defy models. So let's take a closer look at this model then, shall we?
Measuring in at 41mm, this Zenith Defy Classic fits really well on the wrist, I would argue that it would look incredible on all wrist sizes as it's just the perfect in-between size. The watch is made with titanium which takes the wear ability of this watch up a few notches as titanium is lighter than steel meaning it's not too heavy on the wrist. Titanium also has an added benefit of not conducting heat, making this the perfect style for wearing in summer and sunny weather as it won't become warm and uncomfortable, absolutely ideal! The brushed titanium also gives a beautiful finish, just take a look at the bracelet and how the brushed links with the polished edges give off a mesmerising rippling effect.
Now for the showstopper feature of this watch and what makes it such a stunning timepiece, the dial! It's clear to see how incredibly intricate and stunning it really is and you can see all the cogs ticking away in the background. If you turn the watch over you'll get another angle of the movement through the beautiful exhibition case back. Some may be concerned that with all the intricate detail on the dial that the readability of the watch would be compromised, but we can say for sure that this isn't the case with the Zenith Defy Classic.
The movement at the heart of this watch is the Zenith Elite automatic movement, an in-house made movement that is made up of an incredible 187 components, beats at a frequency of 28,800 VpH and has a power reserve of 50 hours. This watch is also water resistant up to 100m and the dial is covered with sapphire crystal glass so is durable for wearing every day and when out and about. A 2 years manufacturer's warranty is offered with this model which is a huge testament to the quality of this Zenith timepiece.
What did you think of this Zenith Defy Classic? Do you love the skeletonised dial? I think this is an incredible timepiece that not only performs, but is so interesting to look at and comes from a brand with strong heritage and prestige.
