Watch Review: TAG Heuer Aquaracer Black Dial Mens Watch WAY201F.BA0927
- 30 Dec 2020
Whilst much of TAG Heuer ranges are focused on motorsport, the Aquaracer range stands apart as TAG Heuer's water sport and diving watch range. The origins of the Aquaracer stretches back to 1982 when Jack Heuer launched what would be the last model introduced under his stewardship: the Heuer 2000.
Today we bring to you a review of an eye catching and exciting model, from the brand's Aquaracer collection: the TAG Heuer Aquaracer WAY201F.BA0927, with a striking blue and red bezel and black dial design.
On a close inspection it is easy to see why this model is such a fantastic hit across the globe. Its striking dial hosts a black horizontal streaked design; a truly subtle detail but one that really sets it aside from other models. The dial itself sports slightly oversized hour markers, which really fits with this model's aesthetic and gives extra readability to the wearer. The real show stopping and party piece on this model, however, is of course the vivid blue and red aluminium, bi-directional 24-hour bezel. This is truly eye-catching and is a wonderful contrast against the deep black of the dial.
Functionality wise, TAG have held nothing back; water resistant to a whopping 300 metres, this timepiece also sports a cyclops date window at 3 o'clock, which again makes readability both easy and slick. This Aquaracer is a GMT model and the red GMT hand reading feature means reading time in another time zone has never been easier.
Powered by a Calibre 7 movement, that can be found under the metal case back, this incredible movement is composed of 21 jewels, is self-winding and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound. With the weight and feel of a real high-quality timepiece, which watch lovers have come to love and would expect from a high-end model like the Aquaracer; and its case coming in at 43mm, this model also wears incredibly on the wrist.
In summary, there is nothing not to like about this model; the TAG Heuer Aquaracer GMT is, well, it's young, it's trendy and it's easy. The blue and red bezel adds a little flare for those who like a splash of colour and in our opinion it certainly works.
