Today we bring to you a review of the TUDOR Heritage Black Bay.
Black Bay models draw their most characteristic features from past models within the brand's history. It's general lines, domed dial and crystal were inspired by the first TUDOR diving watches from the 1950's. The case diameter of this timepiece measured 41mm and sports a steel unidirectional bezel with a 60-minute anodised aluminum disc within, in a striking matte blue which adds to the charming and vintage look. Snowflake hands play wonderfully against the dark dial, again adding to the vintage look as well as giving a nod to the history of the brand.
The bezel is very distinct, without being overly stiff, which is something you want from a watch of this calibre. Incredibly this timepiece has an approximate 70-hour power reserve and is paired with the unbelievable calibre MT5602 automatic in-house movement. The MT56 calibre carries much better than standard COSC certification, using a silicon hairspring to achieve such incredible accuracy.
This Black Bay model also features a screw-down crown to ensure waterproofness of up to 200 metres, the crown is also designed with the iconic TUDOR rose.
When worn on the wrist, it is clear to see the ice-cold face and sharp contrasts of this Black Bay model. These icy tones play wonderfully against the wrist and gives this timepiece a real point of difference compared to other models within the TUDOR range. The timepiece has a sturdy feel which is what you want and expect from a luxury brand like TUDOR.
As a whole, this Black Bay model is a real nod to the brand's history. With subtle features that pay tribute to their fascinating past, this really is a fantastic watch, and for an affordable price, investors in this watch will not be disappointed.
