Jewellery and Watch Workshop Administration Assistant Job Role

A Chisholm Hunter employee is someone ambitious and motivated with a passion for luxury jewellery.

This role is to assist the Buyer, (Diamonds, Gemstones and Precious Metals) in all aspects of support to allow the buyer to accurately predict the business needs.

The Assistant Buyer through system based work will offer to the support the Buyer in all business aspects by providing support to supplier meetings, suggesting/assessing product ranges through careful analysis of retail and wholesale trade information, stock performance and current market trends. The Assistant buyer will also play a role in the sourcing of new lines and the review of existing ones to ensure that products remain competitive in the jewellery market.

Tasks Required:

Systems based work using Pursuit;

Liaise with various internal departments and suppliers as required;

Work directly with product by sourcing and selecting lines alongside the buyer;

Meet suppliers and select samples from their jewellery range, (to be considered for testing in selected stores);

Suggest/assess product ranges- photo quotes from meetings;

Selection of lines by negotiating with the supplier base concerning product design, product development, cost, product lead times and initial orders;

Organise and label samples for meetings, archiving of product ranges;

Verify quantity and quality of stock received from the manufacturer;

Authorise payment of invoices/return of shipment;

Approve advertising copy when appropriate

Give markers: retail and wholesale trade information, mark-ups or mark-downs, manufacturer number, season code, and style numbers- ensure they are ready for print on all price tickets.

Inspect exchanged and refunded merchandise.

Skills Required:

Expert knowledge of Jewellery industry is desirable but not essential – or a minimum of 5 years in the retailing industry would be an advantage. It is expected that you will be computer literate in terms of sales order management.

Expert Knowledge of all Microsoft packages would be an advantage

Good general level of education. A degree in retail or business may give a greater commercial awareness.
